GOLDSBORO — High school seniors are invited to learn what Wayne Community College can offer them during a special event on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

WCC’s magazine, students win national awards

GOLDSBORO — Renaissance, Wayne Community College’s writers’ and artists’ magazine, and its contributors have been recognized by the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA) for the eighth consecutive year.

UMO alumni make their mark at Tri-County Electric

MOUNT OLIVE — Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation, a member-driven cooperative serving rural communities in Eastern North Carolina, has a significant number of University of Mount Olive (UMO) alumni as part of their workforce. With seven alumni currently on staff, Tri-County Electric is demonstrating a strong commitment to recruiting and developing local talent, many of whom have roots in the communities they serve.

WCC’s Practical Nursing class achieves 100 percent NCLEX pass rate

GOLDSBORO — For the second consecutive year, Wayne Community College’s Practical Nursing graduates have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).

Jannette Coppage-Montgomery triumphs in education after 30-year hiatus

RALEIGH — At 53 years young, Jannette Coppage-Montgomery has proven that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams. After a nearly three-decade break from her educational journey, Coppage-Montgomery completed her bachelor of science in human services at the University of Mount Olive in August. She earned the status of Cum Laude with a 3.7 GPA.

UMO students explore Brain-Machine Interfaces

MOUNT OLIVE — Students in Professor David Shields’ Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience class at the University of Mount Olive are delving into the biological foundations of behavior and cognition. As part of an innovative hands-on curriculum, students learn how the nervous system functions and communicates and how these signals can be harnessed to interact with external objects, such as prosthetics and computer software.

WCC collecting items to aid in Hurricane Helene relief

GOLDSBORO — To help support those who were impacted by Hurricane Helene’s devastation in western North Carolina, Wayne Community College will be collecting supplies in partnership with 4 Day Movement, Inc. to be transported by Fairwinds Aviation to the affected areas.

Wayne County supports relief efforts for Hurricane Helene victims in western North Carolina

WAYNE COUNTY — In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, Wayne County is mobilizing to support our fellow North Carolinians who have been severely impacted in the western part of the state. Communities have been left isolated by flooding, and many residents are in dire need of basic supplies and assistance. Wayne County has partnered with the United Way of Wayne County and Fairwinds Aviation to facilitate both monetary and supply donations for those in need.
