SEVEN SPRINGS — The Spring Creek Gators faced off against the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs in a competitive volleyball matchup. Despite strong moments of resilience, the Gators ultimately fell short, with the Bulldogs taking the match 3–1.

Saints fall to Warriors in Friday night football action

DUDLEY — It was a tough night for the Southern Wayne Saints as they fell to Wilson Hunt Warriors, 63–0, in a one-sided matchup. The Wilson Hunt Warriors dominated from start to finish, capitalizing on offensive momentum and defensive takeaways to secure the victory.

James Kenan Tigers dominate Rosewood Eagles in homecoming matchup

Spring Creek Gators get a statement victory over North Johnston Jaguars 6–0

Seven Springs — The Spring Creek Gators set the tone early against the North Johnston Jaguars, applying relentless pressure on the defensive line. The Jaguars briefly caught a break when No. 10 David Kolko Medi received an early yellow card that slowed the Gators’ momentum, leading to a penalty kick for North Johnston. However, the attempt fell short, keeping the score level.

Saints outlast Cougars in overtime thriller, 32–26

Fans were treated to a nail biting showdown as the Saints and Cougars battled into overtime, with the Saints ultimately pulling out a 32–26 victory. The Pre-Game Interview with Coach Stephan Allard was impactful. He acknowledged this was a rivalry and planned to keep the team poised and morale high during the game because this one would be a big test. In the county, bragging rights were also on the line.

Rebels’ ground game steamrolls Rosewood, 39–19

GOLDSBORO — The North Duplin Rebels leaned on a bruising ground attack Thursday night to overpower the Rosewood Eagles, rolling to a decisive 39–19 victory. Behind a relentless rushing effort from running back No. 21 Carell Phillips, the Rebels controlled the tempo from start to finish and never looked back.

Saints shut down Goldsboro home opener

DUDLEY — What a night it was at Southern Wayne Tuesday as the Saints hosted non-conference opponent Goldsboro in their first home game of the season. With a big crowd in attendance, the atmosphere was electric, and this matchup promised to deliver. The Saints entered the game undefeated at 3-0-1 and wanted to keep their strong momentum rolling.

James Kenan Tigers dominate, but Southern Wayne shows growth

GOLDSBORO — It was a perfect night for football Friday as the Southern Wayne Saints hosted the James Kenan Tigers in a non-conference showdown. Just one year after making their playoff berth, the Tigers continue to build on their winning culture, while the Saints are laying their foundation, brick by brick, despite coming up short on the scoreboard.

New faces, new conferences, same goal: Local coaches gearing up teams

Before most of us had our morning coffee, local high school football teams are grinding under the rising sun. As the summer heat intensifies, early morning practices and late afternoon practices are becoming a new normal. At Southern Wayne High School and North Dublin High School, the whistle blows promptly at 8:00 a.m. signaling more than just the start of practice. Meanwhile, other schools like Spring Creek High and James Kenan High take the field later with their practices kicking off around 5:00 p.m. when the day begins to cool but the work remains just as intense. With new coaches in place, these teams are on a mission to rebuild their identity and raise the bar for the season ahead.
