GOLDSBORO — Southern Wayne matmen Lamontez White and Adam Cain each filed a 3-0 worksheet during a four-team, non-conference dual meet contested at Rosewood High School on Tuesday evening.
At 220 pounds, White notched pins against Lazante Brown (Pender), Noah Aycock (Greene Central) and Nick Wade (Rosewood).
Cain, a multi-sport athlete, pinned heavyweight opponents William Englese (Pender), Nicholas Herring (Greene Central) and Hunter Cheney (Rosewood).
Pin times were not recorded in the scorebook.
Freshman Omar Soler Sanchez and Joseph Evans each won two matches. Josiah Bell, Antonio Solice, Dary Perez Lucas and Amari Thomas each picked up one win.
Cain, Solice and Lucas each made their debut on the mat.
In the team portion, the short-handed Saints toppled Greene Central 42-24, but dropped decisions against Pender (30-42) and perennial 1A powerhouse Rosewood (12-66).
Southern Wayne wound up 8-9 in actual contested matches and profited from six forfeits.
The Saints (6-12 overall) return to action Dec. 30 in the Falcon Invitational at county rival Charles B. Aycock. Opening-round matches begin at 9 a.m.
