HEADER:
Goldsboro — On Nov. 6, Wayne County Public Schools hosted the annual WCPS All-County Cheerleading Competition, an exciting event that brought together cheerleading squads from across Wayne County. The competition featured teams from both middle and high schools, showcasing the dedication, athleticism, and school spirit of local students.
Local Teams Represent with Pride
Among the many talented squads were some familiar faces. The Southern Wayne High School Saints Cheerleading Squad, led by Head Coach Kenesha Simmons, along with Assistant Coach Tracie Hamilton Alston and Volunteer Coaches Nadia Jones and Rena Williams, represented their school with enthusiasm and pride.
Also competing was the Spring Creek High School Gators Cheerleading Squad, coached by Head Coach Charlene Clark, Assistant Coach Shannon Scott, and Dance Coordinator Ricki Lane. Both teams delivered impressive performances that energized the crowd, although they did not place in the winner’s circle this year.

• 1st Place: Wayne School of Engineering

• 3rd Place: Mount Olive Middle School
High School Division Winners:
• 1st Place: C.B. Aycock High School
• 2nd Place: Eastern Wayne High School
• 3rd Place: Rosewood High School
While not every team took home a trophy, the event was a resounding success celebrating teamwork, school pride, and community spirit. The annual competition continues to be a highlight for Wayne County Public Schools, inspiring athletes and fans alike.
