PRINCETON — In the second round of the playoffs, the James Kenan Tigers faced off against a familiar conference rival the Princeton Bulldogs. Expectations were high for a competitive matchup, and both teams delivered an intense contest from start to finish.

First Half: Bulldogs Strike First

Both teams battled fiercely for possession early in the match. The Tigers earned an early free kick after a foul on the Bulldogs, but the attempt failed to find the net. James Kenan’s No. 10 Ismael Covarrubias took a corner kick soon after, but Princeton’s defense held firm.

The Tigers continued to pressure the Bulldogs, winning multiple corners and keeping the ball deep in Bulldog territory. However, Princeton’s back line remained composed, turning away every challenge.

Midway through the first half, the Bulldogs began to gain rhythm, creating several solid possessions. A shot from Princeton narrowly missed wide right, keeping the game scoreless. James Kenan responded with shots from No. 10 Ismael Covarrubias and No. 11 Devis Gomez, but both attempts went off target.

As time ticked down, the Bulldogs earned a set-piece opportunity after a Tigers foul. The kick deflected off the post a close call but moments later, Princeton finally broke through. At the 3:11 mark, the Bulldogs found the back of the net to take a 1–0 lead heading into halftime.

Second Half: Tigers Battle, Bulldogs Hold Strong

The second half opened with heightened intensity and a bit of chippiness following a controversial no-call. The Tigers pressed hard for an equalizer, earning several corner kicks from No. 10 Ismael Covarrubias but Princeton’s defense once again cleared each attempt.

James Kenan dominated possession for much of the half, creating multiple opportunities and forcing the Bulldogs’ keeper to stay alert. Despite their pressure, the Tigers couldn’t capitalize.

Frustration mounted as two yellow cards were issued to Princeton players for aggressive challenges, giving the Tigers a bit of momentum. Still, despite their effort and energy, the Tigers couldn’t convert their chances.

In the final minutes, the Bulldogs earned a corner to help run down the clock. The Tigers made one last push to level the score, but their final shot was stopped sealing the Bulldogs’ narrow 1–0 victory.

Best of luck to the James Kenan Tigers Pride Tiger. Thanks for having me cover this amazing milestone.
