As a child of an Air Force officer, I spent my youth living all over the United States. Every place – Montana, California, New Mexico, Virginia – was different, special. But the one amazing thing they always had in common was the local public library.
I always knew I would be welcomed in the children’s room by a friendly face and books on any topic I could imagine. I spent my days lost in new worlds and learning about a variety of subjects from crafting to weather to animals. And now I get to introduce readers to these worlds and more at Steele Memorial Library.
Nowadays, libraries provide more than just books, book clubs, and story times. You can check out movies and magazines, apply for a job using our computers, take part in fun STEM activities, play board games with your friends, meet like-minded people in an exercise class, and coming up in June, people of all ages can participate in our Summer Learning Program, “All Together Now!”
“All Together Now” is all about kindness and friendship, doing good for other people and the world. Interested in gardening and how to take care of the earth so the earth can take care of us? Want to play collaborative games where you work together toward a common goal? Enjoy movies in which teamwork is a must? We have an event for you!
Check out our website, wcpl.org, for more details about events happening at all of the Wayne County Public Library branches this summer. You can also call Steele Memorial Library at 919-299-8105 or stop in to sign up for the Summer Learning Program and get a calendar of events.
