Nine University of Mount Olive pitchers combined for a three-hitter and 14 strikeouts during a 21-1, non-conference thrashing of Saint Michael’s College at Scarborough Field Wednesday afternoon.

Starter Carson Gipson earned the “no decision” with three innings of two-strikeout, three-hit work on the bump.

Bullpen mates Blake Gipson, Tristan Purser, Carson Hinnant and Trey Deutsch each threw one complete inning apiece. Cole Newgaard, Ethan Imbimbo and Johnny Maynard combined for two innings of relief.

Deutsch claimed the win.

Offensively, the No. 18-ranked Trojans pounded out 20 hits — including three each from Cooper George (two RBI), Landon Choboy (four RBI), Joshua Jones (two RBI) and Davis Halstead (three RBI).

Senior captain Jack Casbarro swatted his fourth home run of the season.

Dylan Jeffries (three RBI) supplied two hits. Vito Patierno, JT Stone, Gordon Pihl and Jackson Taylor (two RBI) contributed one hit apiece.

UMO led 2-0 after 2 1/2 innings and broke open the game a 12-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning.

Saint Michael’s (0-10) is an NCAA Division III school located in Vermont.

The Trojans (16-5) travel to in-state Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey on Friday for a three-game weekend series.
