Eastern Wayne’s Lady Warriors proved too much for the home team Tuesday night, as Spring Creek’s Lady Gators fell to the visitors 56-36 in front of an enthusiastic crowd eager to witness this anticipated clash.

The opening quarter set the tone for a fiercely competitive game. Both teams exhibited strong offensive strategies and resilient defenses, keeping the score close. The Gators and the Warriors exchanged baskets, with neither team able to establish a significant lead. Spring Creek’s Trinity Daniels showcased exceptional agility, driving to the basket repeatedly, while Heather Alexander dominated in the paint with key rebounds and put-back scores. The Warriors’ guards countered with sharp perimeter shooting, sinking several mid-range jumpers. The first quarter ended with the Gators holding a narrow 22-21 lead.

The second quarter began with the Lady Gators maintaining their slim advantage. Early in the period, Daniels made a strong drive but missed her layup. The Warriors seized the opportunity, hitting a 3-pointer to take a 24-22 lead. Moments later, Alexander secured an offensive rebound and converted a put-back, giving the Gators a 26-24 edge. The Warriors stayed steady, drawing a foul and making one of two free throws to close the gap.

Daniels responded with a contested jumper, immediately followed by a steal and a quick layup, narrowing the score. The Warriors answered with a layup and an unsuccessful free throw attempt but regained momentum with a successful jumper and another basket just before halftime. The second quarter ended with the Warriors leading, and the momentum firmly in their favor.

The third quarter opened with the Warriors holding a 32-26 advantage. Spring Creek’s back court worked to break through the Warriors’ defense, but missed shots allowed Eastern Wayne to maintain control. After securing an offensive rebound, the Warriors extended their lead with a layup. Alexander answered for the Gators, grabbing a rebound and scoring to keep the game within reach.

Midway through the quarter, Daniels lost possession, leading to a turnover that the Warriors turned into a 3-pointer. Later, Alexander collided with a Warriors player and briefly exited the game. The Warriors took advantage, executing a series of plays for easy baskets. Despite a layup from Daniels, turnovers and defensive breakdowns allowed Eastern Wayne to extend the lead to 42-29. A timeout was called at 4:17, but turnovers and missed opportunities continued to haunt the Gators. The Warriors ended the quarter ahead, 43-29.

In the final quarter, the Warriors continued their offensive push while the Gators struggled to close the gap. Sarah Hess was fouled but missed both free throw attempts, and the Warriors capitalized with another basket. A turnover on an inbound pass gave Eastern Wayne the chance to extend their lead to 47-32. Daniels missed a 3-point attempt, but Alexander pulled down the rebound and scored. The Warriors answered immediately to maintain control.

Late in the game, both Alexander and Natalie Jackson missed layup attempts, though Hess managed to score off a steal. After a timeout at 2:10, Kiarah Pearson added two points for the Gators, but the Warriors sealed their victory with free throws and a layup in the final seconds, winning 56-36.
