KENANSVILLE — The James Sprunt Community College Foundation announced Friday the installment of its newest scholarship available to nursing students.

The Vicki Mobley Memorial Nursing Scholarship, established in loving memory of Vicki Mobley, RN, will award two $500 scholarships to two deserving nursing students. One scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Practical Nursing Program, while the other will be awarded to a student in the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Awarded funds from the Vicki Mobley Memorial Nursing Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, or books.

Mobley graduated from East Duplin High School in 1985 and lived in Beulaville with her husband, Joe, and children, Brandi and Kayla. She completed her journey at JSCC in 1991 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. During her time as a Registered Nurse, Mobley worked locally at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Duplin Home Care and Hospice in Kenansville. Tragically, she passed away on May 22, 1994, at the young age of 26, but her family hopes her legacy will live on through providing assistance to individuals who share her passion for nursing.

James Sprunt Community College and the JSCC Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the family of Mrs. Vicki Mobley for their efforts to enrich our students’ lives, learning, and academic and professional pursuits, a release about the scholarship noted.
