CALYPSO — Crismy Gonzalez logged his second hat trick (three goals) of the season during North Duplin’s 4-2, double-overtime conquest over Carolina 1A boys’ soccer rival Lakewood Monday evening.
Gonzalez boosted his team-leading goal total to 13.
Victor Lara Mata provided one goal and assist for the Rebels, who avenged a 3-3 road tie against the Leopards on Sept. 20.
Henry Gonzalez and Henry Gonzalez doled out one assist apiece.
Keeper Isaias Santos Santander stopped 10 shots between the pipes.
North Duplin (4-7-2 overall, 2-4-1 Carolina 1A) travels to Union on Wednesday. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
Gators earn road draw
WARSAW — Spring Creek erased a one-goal, halftime deficit and earned a 3-3, non-conference draw against perennial 2A boys’ soccer power James Kenan Monday evening.
Ozias Miteu tallied two goals for the Gators, who are 5-17-2 against the Tigers since Aug. 30, 2010. A senior striker, Miteu has scored at least one goal in eight outings this season.
Homer Elias Lopez-Castro provided one goal and one assist.
SC net-minder Joseph Antonio Vasquez recorded four saves.
The Gators (8-8-1 overall) conclude first-half Neuse Six 2A play Wednesday at winless Beddingfield. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
Saints collect QCC road win
BENSON — Southern Wayne claimed its sixth road win of the season – a 2-1 conquest of Quad County 3A boys’ soccer rival West Johnston on Monday evening.
The Saints swept the regular-season series 2-0.
Skervenson Aphael registered a goal for the Saints, who improved to 6-2 away from the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex pitch. Teammate Orlin Argueta scored on an assist from Daniel Velasquez.
Southern Wayne (9-5-1 overall, 4-4-1 QCC) return home Wednesday to face Wilson Hunt. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. at the DWAC.
