CALYPSO — DuJuan Armwood tallied four touchdowns and surpassed the 1,500-yard rushing mark during North Duplin’s 63-20 shellacking of Lejeune Friday evening.

A senior, Armwood rambled for 207 yards on 15 carries and reached the end zone on runs of eight, 23, 52 and seven yards — all in the opening half. He scored four TDs in a game for the fourth time and boosted his career yardage total to 1,647 while in a Rebel uniform.

Armwood spent last season at Southern Wayne.

Junior quarterback Luke Kelly notched ND’s first touchdown — a 53-yard pass to Carel Phillips with 3:41 left in the first quarter. It was Kelly’s lone completion of the night and third touchdown pass of the season.

Phillips, Bryan Zambrano, Khamari Leak and Branden Reyna provided one touchdown apiece in the second half. Reyna collected 112 yards on five carries, while Phillips finished with 67 yards on five totes.

The Rebels racked up a season-high 498 yards of total offense.

North Duplin (4-0 overall) extended its win streak to nine over the Devilpups and begins a three-game road swing next Friday at Holly Ridge Dixon. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

NEWTON GROVE — Orrin Tickles, Carlos Jackson and Gabriel Lopez accounted for Spring Creek’s offensive scoring output during a 64-14, non-conference loss to former Carolina 1A foe Hobbton on a soggy Friday evening.

Orrin Tickles rambled for a touchdown, while Jackson hauled in a 35-yard scoring pass from DJ Deal. Gabriel Lopez provided the two-point conversion.

“We scored points and could have scored more,” first-year Gators head coach Ron Wise said. “So yes, on paper, it was a tough loss, but there were many small victories that went on with our program in this rebuilding phase. Again, we are doing offseason evaluation and learning during the season.

“We are playing catch up every week.”

Daniel Aguilar spearheaded Hobbton’s ground attack with four TDs. Ashawd Wynn and Garret Britt hauled in two TD receptions apiece from quarterback Cole Weeks.

The Wildcats’ Joe Corbett cashed in a 99-yard fumble return.

Spring Creek (0-4 overall) continues its three-game road swing Friday at Union.
