MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive will host renowned scholar Dr. Diana Walsh Pasulka as the featured speaker for the annual Vivian B. Harrison Lecture on Wednesday, October 8, in Rodgers Chapel.
Dr. Pasulka, Senior Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, is a leading voice in the study of religion, technology, and extraordinary human experiences. Her internationally acclaimed books and research explore the intersections of ancient religious traditions, emerging technologies, and the evolving landscape of belief. She has been featured on major media platforms, including The Joe Rogan Experience and The Shawn Ryan Show, captivating audiences with her thought-provoking insights on the future of faith and culture.
The Harrison Lecture will feature two sessions:
· Lecture One — 9 a.m. — Being in the World: 21st Century Challenges for Christian Parents, Teachers, and Students
· Lecture Two — 10:30 a.m. — The Hidden Curriculum: Technology, Spiritual Perception, and the Future of the Christian Church
The Reverend Frank R. Harrison established the Vivian B. Harrison Lecture in memory of his late wife, a Mount Olive College alumna. Its purpose is to provide a platform for continuing education for ministers and laypersons throughout North Carolina. The event is made possible through the Vivian Harrison Endowed Fund. Both lectures are free and open to the public.
