Well-dressed pickles, or at least the people who love pickles, might want to complement their N.C. Pickle Festival ensemble with a pair of official limited edition Pickle Festival socks.
But if you want your own pair, you need to act quickly — only 96 pairs were ordered. Actually, there are only 94 pairs available — two pairs already have been bought by Pickle Festival Co-chair Julie Beck and Gretchen Reed of SW Promotions.
“So when they are gone, they are gone,” Beck stressed.
The two were working on Pickle Festival planning when each bought a pair after modeling them for a Tribune photo.
Beck also modeled her new pickle costume.
The socks are $22 per pair and can be purchased at the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce office, 123 N. Center St.
“One size fits most.” Beck noted.
The socks have little pickles on them and the N.C. Pickle Festival’s generic logo
Many years ago Pickle Festival merchandise included footies, but this is the first time “proper socks” is being sold, Beck said.
Beck also has ordered 1,800 Pickle Festival T-shirts that should be available soon.
“I ordered the socks and the shirts at the same time, but obviously it is going to take longer because we ordered a lot more shirts,” Beck said.
“We’re trying to get some more products so that we can have more merchandise that people can buy and take a little bit of the Pickle Festival home with them.”
Coordinated by the North Carolina Pickle Festival, Inc. in partnership with the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce, of which Beck is the president, the 37th annual N.C. Pickle Festival will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, April 28, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in downtown Mount Olive.
