SALEMBURG — Tateyawna Faison dropped in seven of her 19 points in overtime and helped short-handed North Duplin escape Carolina 1A rival Lakewood, 62-54, in overtime on Tuesday evening.
Faison also pulled down nine rebounds for the Rebels, who played without head coach John Oliver and junior guard Reece Outlaw. The duo missed the contest due to illness.
Addy Higginbotham recorded 20 points, nine steals, six assists and four rebounds. Lilly Brothus logged nine points, two assists and two steals.
Lily Fulghum provided seven points and six rebounds, while Adaisha Bernal dropped in a season-best seven points. Meghan Martin contributed four assists and three rebounds.
North Duplin lost the varsity and JV boys’ games.
“We didn’t play well in the second half,” said Rebels JV head coach Nick Nielsen.
The Rebels return home Friday to face Union.
