CALYPSO — Reece Outlaw torched the nets for a career-high 35 points during North Duplin’s 58-25 romp over Carolina 1A girls’ basketball rival Rosewood on Friday evening.

Outlaw connected on a career-high 16 field goals and picked the Eagles for five steals.

Addy Higginbotham contributed 12 points, five assists and eight steals.

Lily Brothus and Piper Creekmore recorded five and three points apiece. Tateyawna Faison controlled the glass with 14 rebounds. Meghan Martin and Lilly Fulghum each snared six rebounds.

North Duplin (13-1 overall, 4-0 Carolina) launches a three-game road swing Tuesday at Hobbton.

Martin leads Rebel JVs

CALYPSO — Branson Martin tallied 19 points, including nine from three-point range, as North Duplin dispatched Rosewood, 48-30, on Friday afternoon.

Tev Collins provided 15 points for the Rebels, who rose to 13-1 overall and 4-0 against Carolina 1A opposition this season. Luke Kelly logged eight points.

North Duplin visits league foe Hobbton on Tuesday.

SW girls upset, again

WENDELL — East Wake completed its regular-season sweep of Southern Wayne with a 49-42 triumph on the Quad County 3A girls’ basketball scene Friday evening.

Ta’Niyah Glaspie notched 16 points and seven rebounds.

Jamaiya Bass had 10 points. Elaina Lane registered eight points. Nygeria Thompson posted seven points and nine rebounds.

The Saints (12-5 overall, 6-2 QCC) entertain James Kenan on Wednesday.

SW boys dealt QCC defeat

WENDELL — Eli Boykin pulled down 10 rebounds during Southern Wayne’s 40-33 loss to Quad County 3A leader East Wake on Friday evening.

Boykin also supplied five points and blocked two shots.

Chris Carmon had seven points and eight rebounds. De’Untae Wright stuffed his stat sheet with six points, four assists and two steals.

“My guys played a great game on the defensive end,” Saints head coach Brian West said. “We’ve just got to get better at putting the ball in the hole and making sure our shot selections don’t become turnovers. All in all, I’m proud of my team, their growth and where we are going forward.”

The Saints (8-8, 5-3) play host to James Kenan on Wednesday.
