La GRANGE — Southern Wayne grapplers Omar Soler Sanchez, Antonio Solice and Eli Hulet each filed a 3-0 worksheet during a four-team meet contested at North Lenoir High School on Tuesday evening.
Sanchez extended his win streak to seven with pins over North Lenoir’s Corbin Riley, North Johnston’s Seth Walters and a forfeit against Eastern Wayne. All matches were at 106 pounds.
A junior heavyweight, Hulet posted pins over North Lenoir’s Kane Moore, North Johnston’s Austin Lett and Eastern Wayne’s Zy’Keith Bass-Best.
Solice, a 170-pounder, collected pins over Eastern Wayne’s Kaitlin Hinman and North Johnston’s Favio Vega. He received a forfeit against North Lenoir.
Matt Whitley, Yusef Ceballos, Mia Glaspie-Leach and Dary Perez Lucas picked up one win apiece for the Saints.
Southern Wayne defeated Eastern Wayne, 42-30. However, coach Tori King’s charges dropped encounters against North Johnston (54-30) and North Lenoir (42-36).
The Saints (8-17 overall) travel to Quad County 3A rival Smithfield-Selma today for a tri-meet that also includes Wilson Hunt.
