CALYPSO – North Duplin is third in the Carolina 1A Wells Fargo Conference Cup competition after completion of the fall sports season.
The Rebels amassed 165 points and secured the league’s boys’ cross country championship for the second straight year. The boys’ soccer and football teams each finished third, while the girls’ volleyball team placed fourth.
Rosewood leads the Cup chase with 250 points after picking up regular-season titles in football, girls’ cross country and boys’ soccer. The girls’ tennis team received 15 participation points.
Hobbton is second with 200 points. Lakewood and Neuse Charter share fourth place with 125 points, while Union is sixth with 105.
Sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NC High School Athletic Association, the Wells Fargo Conference Cup is based on regular-season performances within conference play. The award recognizes the best interscholastic athletic performances within each NCHSAA conference.
In most conferences, points are award based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own methods of awarding points.
