On Tuesday, April 4, the University of Mount Olive community will come together for its annual Giving Day.
“Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising challenge that creates an opportunity to give back and make a difference,” said UMO President Dr. H. Edward Croom. “Gifts of all sizes help pave the way for our current and future students and ensures that they have the tools and resources necessary to achieve their goals.”
Through social challenges and good old-fashioned rivalry, participants will have the chance to support their favorite UMO passion, which could be academics, athletics, music, or any other area.
UMO Alumnus and Pastor of City Church in Goldsboro Terry Jones said, “Juliet and I owe the University of Mount Olive immensely. This undesired, unexpected pit stop changed the trajectory of our lives. Personally, college was the ultimate opportunity to get away from home and the restrictions of the faith, not realizing that by coming to UMO I was running into purpose and destiny. As student-athletes here, Juliet and I established our commitment to God, reshaped our commitment to one another, and began ministry work — all of which are the pillars for who we are today. As a Goldsboro resident, I metaphorically came to UMO kicking and screaming! This experience for me was the fulfillment of Jeremiah’s heart in saying: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11.’ Today I’m submitted to and thankful for His plans and the part the University of Mount Olive played.”
UMO Alumnus from the class of 1974 Gregg Paul stated, “The individual attention and investment of time that I received during my time at Mount Olive has made a tremendous impact on who I am today. I want to help support UMO so others may continue to benefit in their careers and for years into the future.”
