SEVEN SPRINGS — Newcomer Jasmine Valentine swatted a home run during Spring Creek’s season-opening, 12-2 romp over Hobbton on Wednesday evening.
Valentine doubled, scored three runs and recorded two RBI in the scorebook during her debut at “The Swamp.”
Sarah Hess doubled twice in a three-hit performance, drove in five runs and stole three bases. Emily Williams, Mattie Staps, Nhayiris Gadea and AnnMarie Howard provided one hit apiece.
Williams tossed a three-hitter and retired seven Wildcats on strikeouts inside the pitcher’s circle. Both Wildcat runs were unearned.
Weather permitting, the Gators (1-0 overall) travel to former Carolina 1A rival Rosewood today. First pitch is 6 p.m.
