Town seeks farmer’s market site

The town’s beautification committee is reviewing a site on East James Street for a local farmers’ market.

Original plans called for constructing a year-round market with shelter, utilities and refrigeration on a vacant lot at Pollock and Center streets. That idea has since been scrapped.

Charles Brown, former town manager, sought funding from the NC Department of Commerce Community Development program.

Commissioner Barbara Kornegay chairs the beautification committee.
