Revival this week at Little Rock, more events

Greetings and a special thanks to all of the veterans who served our country!

Several services are coming up at local churches:

A revival service is set for 7:30 nightly at Little Rock Church of Christ on Highway 581 in Pikeville Nov. 20-22 with revivalist preacher Elder Antionette Wright of Dover. The pastor Elder Rodney Core invites you to come and be a part of the church’s revival.

New Life Worship Center on Maple Street invites you to their pre-Thanksgiving service on Nov. 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. with guest preacher Elder Betty Faison and New Jackson Tabernacle Church of Mount Olive rendering the service. On Sunday at 11 a.m., Elder JRashand Cobb will be the guest preacher. Worship services are held every first, second and fourth Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. where Janice Williams serves as pastor.

A worship service is set for 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at St Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, where pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman will deliver the message and the choir will provide the music. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 the St. Luke Church Choir, usher and congregation will render the service at Alum Spring Church of Christ in Dover to help celebrate Elder Matthew McNair’s pastoral anniversary. Mark your calendar and save the date of Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. as we help celebrate Elder Matthew McNair’s pastoral anniversary.

An appreciation celebration will be held for Elder Theresa Tann Saturday at the Juniper Community Building in Faison at 4 p.m. The color of the service will be purple. For more information, call 910-3376854. Let’s not forget this woman of God.

Happy birthday to Elder Edna Durham on Nov. 25 and to Elder Reginald Grimes of Morrisville on Nov. 12 from your parents, Apostle Preston and Apostle Jesse Grimes and your entire Holy Ghost Cathedral Church family and yours truly.

Happy eighth anniversary to Drs. Kengi and Chandra Bass of Cary from your grandparents, Ezekial and Lillie N. Ward; your mother, Patricia Ward Bass; and your entire family along with Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church family.

In memory of our father, Vancie Ward, happy birthday in heaven on Nov. 10 and thank you for serving as a Veteran. Thank you to my brothers, Dennis and Ronald Ward, for serving in the U.S. Army.

Congratulations to Dr. William Barber II, who was named a winner of the 2019 North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor. Past Winners include NC legends such as Maya Angelou for literature in 1987 and our namesake Terry Sanford for public service in 1970. Congratulations Dr. William Barber.

I want to wish a happy birthday to Jean Stringfield Nov. 14 from your family and especially from your mama and my friend, Doris Stringfield, because she would have called to tell me to put this special news in the newspaper. I miss her. May She rest in God’s arms. I want to wish a happy birthday to mother Sarah Lane, who celebrated Nov. 14, from your pastor Elder Rodney Core and Little Rock Church family and from yours truly, along with Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church of Christ family. Happy special 74th birthday to my wonderful cousin Oletha Ward, who celebrated Nov. 15. I love you with all of my heart.

I want to wish a happy birthday to Little Niko Blythers, who celebrated Nov. 10, of Atlanta, Georgia, from your aunt, Niecy Weeks; your grandmother, Earlene Leach; and your other grandmother and grandfather. Niecy Weeks spent a couple of days in Georgia with her niece, Gewndolyn Iris, and family.

I want to wish a happy birthday to James Amerson of Goldsboro, who celebrated Nov. 15, from your gorgeous wife, Beverlyn, along with Carolyn Allen.

Our prayers, sympathy and love are with the family of the legendary deacon P.H. Holloway, who died on Nov. 14. Holloway was a longtime member of Holy Hill Church of Christ in LaGrange, where Elder Keith Robinson serves as pastor. Holloway and Mary Rhoe are together in the arms of God.
