Residents tip police off to secret meeting spot for selling stolen goods

That’s where they caught him, deputies say

Acting on a tip from Wayne County residents, deputies say they staked out a secret meeting spot where crooks are rumored to sell stolen goods and found a man with a stolen pressure washer and generator.

They were investigating the case of a stolen generator and pressure washer from a home in southern Wayne County when a man showed up with items matching their descriptions, according to a release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Jaquan Lynn Weikel, 22, fled on foot when he was approached by officers on Monday, Nov. 18, but was apprehended after a brief foot chase, according to the release.

Deputies charged Weikel with felony possession of stolen goods, giving false information to officers, resisting arrest and for a felony fugitive warrant for a parole violation in Pennsylvania.

Deputies are thanking the tipsters for their help in the case and say that the stolen goods have been recovered.

Weikel was being held in the Wayne County Detention Center without bond.
