Pickle Festival opening night to feature two bands


Opening night live entertainment for the April 12 kick-off of the 33rd annual North Carolina Pickle Festival in downtown Mount Olive will feature two live bands — the Feral Cats and Steel County Express.

They will highlight the street dance from 6 until 10 p.m. in front of Ribeyes in the 100 block of North Center Street.

A beer garden will also be open at Ribeyes.

The street is blocked off to traffic.

Feral Cats is a local dance blues band that was organized last summer. They will play from 6 until 6 p.m.

It features Kimberly Korne-gay, Kevin Burrus, Rick Cypher and Chris Shupe. The group has played around the state at clubs, parties and festivals.

Steel County Express is a country band that plays modern country and rock.

Other live entertainment for the festival will feature a number of bands on the Main Stage in front of Southern Bank on Saturday, April 13.

It kicks off at 9 a.m. until 11:10 a.m. with Eagle Wing, an Eagles tribute band.

A Beatles tribute band, British Invaders, takes over at 11:25 a.m. and plays until 1:25 p.m.

River Mist, a variety group, will play from 1:40 until 3:40 p.m.

The closing band from 4 until 6 p.m. is Ultimate Rock Machine, a rock group.

There is other festival enter-tainment on the schedule. It features throughout Saturday Glen Yost, Magic and Comedy.
