Pastoral anniversaries, homecomings on the horizon

Upcoming services include:

  • St. Luke Church of Christ in Mount Olive invites you to a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday with Elder Kenneth Freeman to deliver the message and music by the choir.
  • Ram In The Bush, 113 Shamrock Drive, Clinton, will celebrate Apostle Judy Howard’s 23rd pastoral anniversary through 19 at 7:30 p.m. each night with Elder Bobby Lamb and Elder Willie Lamb of St. Mary UHC leading the service Wednesday and Elder Eddie Parker of Gateway Ministry leading the service Friday.
  • St. James Church of Christ, 514 S. Breazeale Ave., will host a Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 28, with guest preacher Elder Woodrow Grandy Jr. and the St. Peter UHC choir, ushers and the congregation of Magnolia rendering the service. The Pastor Elder Ernest and Evangelist Sadie Watson and the St. James Church family invite all family members and friends to come and fellowship.
  • First Baptist Church in Calypso will celebrate homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, with special guest Elder Tony Whitted and Faison Chapel MB Church of Faison. Deacon Derrick King of Greater Six Run MB Church of Turkey will lead the service. The Pastor Elder Anthony Ezzell and First Baptist Church family invite you.
  • Union Wesley AME Zion Church, 3424 Summerlin Crossroad, will celebrate Men’s Day at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, with Elder Donald Graham, the Sampson Chapel Choir, ushers and the congregation of Clinton rendering the service.
  • The Ezekial and Annie Ward family reunion will be held August 10-12 at a cost of $45 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. A Friday night meet and greet will be held in the St. Luke Church fellowship hall. The reunion will also feature a 6 p.m. Saturday dinner at the Maxwell Center in Goldsboro and a worship service at St. Luke Church at 11 a.m. on Sunday.   • Mark your calendar and save the date of Aug. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, Mount Olive, as we show love and appreciation to our musician Sister Teresa Baker with several on the program. Teresa has been a blessing to many churches, many funerals and so much more.
  • Goshen Disciple Church, 7120 Suttontown Road, Faison, will celebrate its Ushers Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, with guest preacher Elder Donald Graham, the Sampson Chapel Church Choir, ushers and the congregation of Clinton rendering the service. The president, Sis Jessica Ricks, along with the pastor, Elder Donald DeWitt, invite all ushers to come and fellowship.

    Mark your calendar and save the date as we celebrate and appreciate an awesome, anointed, dynamic musician Sister Teresa Baker, who will be celebrating 49 years at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, with several groups on the program. Guests will be announced later.

    Yours truly will celebrate 18 years of service to the community and churches at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at St. Luke Church Of Christ with special guest Bishop Richard Johnson and the St. Peter Church choir, ushers and the congregation in Smithfield rendering the service.

    Happy special birthday to my beautiful sister for life, Evangelist Temika Michelle Newkirk Powell, who celebrated June 28. May God bless you to have many more. We love you, from your husband Elder Terrell Powell, from Holly Grove Clinton, from your mother and father, Elder Carolyn and Elder John Newkirk of Rose Hill, and your entire family.

    In memory of my mother, my brothers and my granddaddy, I would like to say a happy birthday to our Mama Ethel Weeks Ward on July 17; my brother, Arnold Ward, on July 17; Vancie Ward Jr., better known as Pete, on July 23; Carlton Ward, better known as Butch, on July 10; my sister-in-law, Connie Ward, on July 19; and Granddaddy Pervis Weeks on July 18, from your daughters, Niecy Weeks and Earlene Moore, and your grandchildren, Glenda, Dennis and Ronald.     Happy anniversary to Kerry and Charlene Frazier of Calypso on June 28, from your sister, Patricia Jones.

    Happy special birthday to my son’s nephew, Darrell Barksdale, of Raleigh, on June 28, from your mother, your son, Cameron Barksdale, and your entire family. We love you.

    Happy special Birthday to my handsome grandson Joshua Alexander Randolph, who celebrated his birthday July 11 at Dave and Busters in Cary with his cousin Chase Neely and three of his friends. The celebration included a sleepover and a pool party that day. Happy 14th birthday, Joshua.

    Yours truly along with Carolyn Allen and Katholeen Galloway attended a surprise 70th birthday celebration of Evangelist Brenda Taylor of Arapahoe on Saturday at Pamilco Community College, sponsored by her sisters, brother and son. What a wonderful, blessed happy and surprise celebration it was for Brenda. She had no idea of the surprise. Guests came from as far as Connecticut, and around eastern North Carolina to attend.
