Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church hosted the local gospel group One Accord in concert on Saturday, May 18, at 2711 Beautancus Road in Mount Olive.
One Accord members, Pastor Anthony L. Ezzell, Rev. Gary L. Fisher, Ira Anderson, Leroy Dixon, Patrick Grady, Andre’ Smith, Milton Whitfield, David Darden and Joseph Teachey, sang “soul-stirring songs” from both of the group’s CDs, according to the church.
Anderson sang, “Show Up” and vocalist and guitarist Whitfield sang, “Set on Ready” before the group transitioned to its title cut, “For Your Glory,” led by Ezzell, pastor of First Baptist Church in Calypso. The group climaxed their singing with, “I can do all Things Through Christ,” and its title cut, “Grace,” led by Whitfield, from the band’s first CD entitled, “Grace.”
Rod Herring, host of WFMC’s Gospel 730 Afternoon Drive in Goldsboro was the master of ceremony.
Several groups came to help the honorees lift up the “name above all names,” according to the church. The First Baptist Adult Choir in Calypso “planted the seed that began this spirit-filled service,” church members said in a release.
The choir, under the direction of Gloria Ezzell sang songs such as, “War” and “I Came to Tell You.” The Anointed Robertson Sisters of Clinton, the Jerusalem Travelers of Turkey, Deacon Ed “Pop” Jones of Goldsboro and The Kingdom Builders of Goldsboro were present and contributed to the service.
Mount Olive Mayor Joe Scott and Mount Olive Mayor Pro Tem Harlie Carmichal were also in attendance. Scott read and presented a proclamation to the group proclaiming Saturday, May 18, 2019, as “One Accord Day” in the city.
