Impaired driver found passed out in middle of road, deputies say

A La Grange man faces numerous charges after deputies say they found him passed out behind the wheel of a car.

Lenoir County officers informed the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office that a possible intoxicated driver was headed into Wayne County on Jan. 21.

Officers responded to the call and located 25-year-old Eduardo Villigan-Rubio reportedly passed out behind the wheel and parked in the middle of the road.

A search of the vehicle uncovered drugs and drug paraphernalia, deputies say.
Villigan-Rubio was charged with a felony count of maintaining a vehicle for the use of controlled substances and felony possession of cocaine, two counts of possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while impaired, two outstanding warrants for felony possession of controlled substances and another outstanding warrant for possession of marijuana.

He was being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $16,000 bond.
