A man who tried to avoid a checkpoint station is facing drug charges, according to the Mount Olive Police Department.
MOPD’s C-Shift, led by Sgt. Jason Holliday, conducted a driver’s license checkpoint July 16 on Smith Chapel Road.
According to the incident report, Andrew Witherington approached the area and attempted to evade officers who were conducting driver’s license checks of other vehicles.
Once Witherington was stopped, officers say they discovered he had marijuana in his possession and an open container of alcohol, but he did not have a driver’s license.
Officers also charged Witherington with resisting arrest. He was taken to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and given a $1,000 secured bond.
