July 21

James William America, 64, of Broadway was charged with communicating threats, felony larceny and assaulting a female while awaiting his release on other charges at the Harnett County Detention Center. His new warrants came with a $3,500 unsecured bond.

Artis Lewis Elliott Jr., 29, of Lillington is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 72-year-old Margie Pipkin. Elliott was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied car and attempted first-degree murder. Deputies booked him into the Harnett County Detention Center without bond. “These charges stemmed from an investigation whereby the defendant was shooting at a vehicle while traveling down Bunnlevel Erwin Road near the intersection of Beaver Road,” Sgt. Spencer Elmore noted in Elliott’s arrest report. “As a result of this shooting, an individual not involved in the shooting was struck in the head by a fired projectile, who later died from her injury.”

Demetrick Alexandur McArthur, 38, of Dunn is charged with misdemeanor and felony larceny, possessing stolen goods, conspiracy to commit felony larceny and injuring personal property. Deputies booked him into the Harnett County Detention Center.

July 22

Jalen Joshawn Simmons-Wilson, 27, of Jesup, Georgia, is charged with larceny by an employee. Deputies booked him into the Harnett County Detention Center under a secured bond of $1,000.

July 24

Michael Douglas Ward, 47, of Cameron is charged with aiding and abetting a felony larceny. Deputies booked him into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.

July 28

Purcell Godwin, 45, of Linden is charged with breaking and entering. Deputies booked him into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

Tara Harmon, 34, of Cameron is charged with felony larceny. Deputies booked her into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.

Ann Stewart, 37, of Sanford is charged with obtaining property through a false pretense. Deputies booked her into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.

Dunn Police Department

July 15-16

Dunn police are investigating the thefts of two catalytic converters — one from a vehicle parked at a lot at 103 W. Cumberland St. on July 15 and the other from a vehicle parked outside a church on North Clinton Avenue July 16. The converters are valued at an estimated $1,300. Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2399.

July 17

Jordan Matthew Lilliston, 23, of Erwin is charged with possessing methamphetamine when police encountered him during a shoplifting investigation at Walmart. The man accused of shoplifting, 25-year-old Matthew Tyler Inman of Longwood, stole a Red Bull drink and a corn dog from the store, according to an investigation report. Inman faces a misdemeanor shoplifting charge. Police booked Lilliston into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.

July 20

Tamberly Joy Campbell, 64, of Dunn was arrested on a felony warrant out of Durham County, charging her with failing to return a hired motor vehicle. Police booked her into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.

July 21

Dunn police are investigating a case of funny money at Walmart. Ten counterfeit $100 bills were reported at the department store. Anyone with information on the fake currency should call the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2399.

July 22

Sarah Emily McDonald, 28, of Erwin is charged with stealing from a construction site and possessing or receiving stolen goods from a construction site. Police booked her into the Harnett County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

July 24

Dunn police are investigating a reported theft of scrap metal, an air-conditioning condenser and copper wire from the old boneless ham building at 1001 Susan Tart Road. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2399.

July 19

David Ignacio-Ocampo Segura, 22, of Newton Grove is charged with second-degree exploitation of a minor. Deputies booked him into the Sampson County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

July 20

Jose Lopez-Viera, 36, of Stedman is charged with possessing a firearm as a felon. He was booked into the Sampson County Detention Center and released the next day.

July 21

Eddie Shaun Anderson, 45, of Coats is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats and violating parole. He was being held in the Sampson County Detention Center.

Tammy Lynn McCraw, 52, of Newton Grove is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. She was booked into the Sampson County Detention Center and released the next day.

July 23

Anthony Level Parker, 48, of Godwin is charged with possessing a stolen automobile. He was booked into the Sampson County Detention Center and released the same day.

July 24

Keith Lamar Pressley, 30, of Dunn is charged with larceny of vehicle parts, attempted larceny of vehicle parts, trespassing and damaging property. Deputies booked him into the Sampson County Detention Center under a $27,000 secured bond.

July 25

Dennis James Bailey, 24, of Coats is charged with possessing methamphetamine. Deputies booked him into the Sampson County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
