Clean up efforts have started at town hall after a Labor Day fire that either destroyed or impacted eight offices.
Personnel from the cleaning company have gutted the interior of the building. They’ve removed desks, chairs and the carpet.
Electronic equipment has been boxed up and will be checked for damage, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall.
He described the scene inside as “bare.”
Contents destroyed by the fire have been tossed into heavy metal trash containers placed outside the town clerk’s office, where the fire originated. The investigation continues on the cause of the fire, but officials feel it’s accidental due to a faulty electrical outlet.
All personnel have been assigned to other offices in town hall.
Royall estimated that new offices will be completed in six months.
