Spring Creek opened its matchup against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets with plenty of pressure, controlling possession and looking to establish an early advantage.
The Gators created the first significant opportunity when No. 6 Tomason Charles fired a shot on goal, but Roanoke Rapids goalkeeper No. 84 Angel Saravia came up with a big stop to keep the game scoreless. The Yellowjackets responded by applying pressure of their own and creating opportunities on the offensive end.
Spring Creek continued to work the ball forward, including an attempt by No. 8 Bryan Esau Medina Rodriguez to find No. 12 Christopher Mulenga Miteu but the Yellowjackets defense stepped in to break up the play.
The Gators regained possession and earned several set-piece opportunities. No. 17 Joyner Joshua Perez Zunun took a free kick, but the Yellowjackets turned it away. Spring Creek earned another free kick, this time taken by No. 8 Bryan Esau Medina Rodriguez but Roanoke Rapids once again held firm.
The Yellowjackets answered with a kick from No. 26 Ty Barham that was stopped by the Gators. Spring Creek later earned a corner kick taken by No. 8 Bryan Esau Medina Rodriguez but Yellowjackets No. 3 Christopher Skinner made the defensive stop.
Roanoke Rapids continued to push forward, with No. 13 Jax Montanez getting a shot on goal that sailed high over the post.
Scoreless at the Break
As the first half progressed, both teams continued to battle for possession. Spring Creek showed its determination when No. 5 Darwin Daniel Aldana Ramirez made a strong drive toward the offensive end and followed it with a shot on goal, only to have the Yellowjackets goalkeeper make another important save.
The Gators created another opportunity after a big steal, with No. 6 Tomason Charles sending a shot toward the net. However, the attempt sailed high over the post.
Neither team could break through before halftime, sending the game into the break tied at 0-0.

Gators Break Through
The Yellowjackets came out of halftime aggressively, earning an early free kick by No. 8 Rayan Kassem following a penalty. Roanoke Rapids continued to create pressure with corner-kick opportunities from No. 2 Tripp Garner but the Gators’ defense prevented the Yellowjackets from capitalizing.
Spring Creek responded with a drive from No. 8 Bryan Esau Medina Rodriguez that was stopped by the Yellowjackets. The Gators continued to attack and earned a corner kick, with No. 20 Anjel Eliam Juarez Lopez and No. 10 David Kolko Medi combining on an attempt that bounced off the top post.
Both teams continued trading possessions as the intensity of the match increased.
Spring Creek eventually found the breakthrough it had been searching for. After a strong offensive drive, No. 8 Bryan Esau Medina Rodriguez found the back of the net at the 21:22 mark of the second half, giving the Gators a 1-0 advantage.
Yellowjackets Answer Late
With Spring Creek holding the lead, both teams became increasingly aggressive as they battled for control. The physical play resulted in multiple yellow cards, with the Gators receiving two and the Yellowjackets also being issued two.
Roanoke Rapids continued to push forward in search of an equalizer. That pressure finally paid off when No. 6 Jeffren Marenco scored at the 10:20 mark of the second half, leveling the match at 1-1.
The Gators continued to fight, but the Yellowjackets maintained their offensive pressure. Spring Creek was issued another yellow card as the match entered its final minutes.
Roanoke Rapids earned a late free kick following a handball, setting up one final opportunity to take control of the match.
Late Goal Decides the Match
With only 4:18 remaining, No. 21 Brian Chavez delivered the decisive moment for the Yellowjackets, finding the back of the net to give Roanoke Rapids a 2-1 lead.
Spring Creek battled until the final whistle but could not find another equalizer.
After a scoreless first half and a back-and-forth second half, the Yellowjackets completed the comeback to secure the victory.
