The Heide Trask varsity baseball team delivered a dominant performance against Spring Creek, cruising to a 14-1 road victory. Trask’s offense erupted early, and their pitching staff stifled the Gators, allowing just one hit in five innings.

Heide Trask wasted no time asserting control, exploding for eight runs in the top of the first inning. The visitors capitalized on Spring Creek’s defensive struggles, combining sharp hitting with aggressive baserunning.

Trask loaded the bases early with back-to-back hits, and a sharp single up the middle plated the first two runs. Moments later, another well-placed hit brought a third runner home. The Gators’ defense faltered as a series of walks and misplays allowed additional runs to score, quickly stretching the lead to 5-0. Spring Creek managed to record two outs, but Trask tacked on a final two-run single before closing out the inning with an 8-0 advantage.

Spring Creek attempted to respond in the bottom of the first. Rylan Kornegay led off with a walk and stole second before Steven Palmero drove him in with a deep shot to the outfield, putting the Gators on the board. However, their momentum was short-lived as Trask’s defense shut down the inning.

Spring Creek showed brief defensive improvement, holding Trask scoreless in the second inning as pitcher Jayson Hill found his rhythm. Hill recorded two strikeouts and limited the damage, giving the Gators a chance to regroup.

However, their offense failed to capitalize. In the bottom of the second, Xavier Johnson reached base on a walk and stole second, but a groundout and a strikeout left him stranded. In the third inning, Kornegay managed another walk and advanced to scoring position, but once again, Spring Creek couldn’t bring him home.

Meanwhile, Heide Trask reignited its offense in the fourth inning. A series of well-placed hits, coupled with another fielding error, led to two more runs, extending their lead to 10-1.

By the fifth inning, Heide Trask’s dominance was undeniable. A two-run double into the gap extended the lead to 12-1, followed by another RBI single and an additional run due to a defensive miscue, pushing the final score to 14-1.

Spring Creek needed a strong offensive push in the bottom of the fifth to avoid an early mercy-rule defeat, but their struggles continued. Landon Hines worked a walk and reached second, but consecutive strikeouts sealed the game, giving Heide Trask the commanding win.

Spring Creek head coach Shorty Jones acknowledged his team’s struggles but remained focused on improvement.

“We have some work to do,” Jones said. “They were able to hit the pitches we put out there, and we need to tighten up on that. Our main objective is team growth, and we’re still figuring out the best lineup to put in play.”

Spring Creek will look to bounce back in their next matchup, focusing on improving both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile, Heide Trask’s dominant victory solidifies their strong start to the season, showcasing their depth at the plate and efficiency on the basepaths.
