WILSON — Regan Stribble carded a season-low, nine-hole round of 44 during a Quad County 3A golf match played on the Willow Springs Country Club links.
Stribble clinched a berth in the NC High School Athletic Association eastern 3A regional.
Chloe Sullivan contributed her second-lowest round (52) of the season, while Avery Jennette carded a 60. The Saints posted a team-best score of 156 this season.
West Johnston’s Jenna Underwood earned medalist honors with a 42. Kinsley Hill fired a 43. Stribble shared third place with Reese Penny and Danielle Morgan.
Gators VB ends skid
SEVEN SPRINGS — Spring Creek ended an eight-game skid on the volleyball court with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 conquest of Neuse Six 2A foe Beddingfield at “The Swamp.”

The Gators (4-12 overall, 1-4 Neuse Six) entertain conference foe North Johnston on Thursday.
SC soccer prevails in overtime
KENLY — Three-time defending Neuse Six 2A boys’ soccer champion Spring Creek launched its 2024 conference season with a 1-0 overtime conquest of North Johnston on Tuesday evening.
Gustabo Vargas Fajardo tallied the Gators’ lone goal off an assist from senior Homar Lopez in the first extra session.
SC keeper Edgar Avila earned the shutout between the pipes.
Spring Creek (4-7-2 overall, 1-0-0 Neuse Six) is the guest of Holly Ridge Dixon on Thursday. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m.
Rebels take down Wildcats
NEWTON GROVE — North Duplin launched a three-match road swing Tuesday evening with a 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 triumph over Hobbton.
Carrly Strickland notched career highs in aces (6) and digs (8) for the Rebels, who improved to 5-1 in road games this season. Ady Spence served three aces and collected six digs.
Junior libero Marissa Bernal logged 28 digs, while Iala Overton contributed 16.
North Duplin had 64 digs as a team.
Eva Quintanilla cranked out a team-leading 10 kills. Front-line mate Tateyawna Faison added five kills and posted nine blocks.
Lilly Fulghum stuffed her stat sheet with 17 assists, seven aces, six digs and three kills.
The Rebels have prevailed in 14 of their last 15 meetings against the Wildcats and hold a decisive 21-6 edge in the series since 2011.
North Duplin (8-5 overall, 3-2 Carolina 1A) continues league play Thursday at reigning league co-champ Neuse Charter. Hobbton (10-3, 2-3) entertains Rosewood.
Bulldogs sweep Tigers
TEACHEY — Angelina Cavallaro and Analeise Rivenbark combined for 25 kills to lead Wallace-Rose Hill past James Kenan 25-10, 25-10, 25-14 in their East Central 2A volleyball contest Tuesday evening.
Cavallaro served 10 aces for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in league matters this season. Mattie Gavin dished out 29 assists.
Y’Anna Rivers paced the Tigers’ offense with three kills. Ava Jones and Jourdan Joe provided two kills apiece. Rivers, Jones, Kierra Williams and Shylah Sloan each provided one block.
Joe and Landyn Boone each served one ace.
James Kenan (6-8 overall, 1-5 ECC) plays host to East Duplin on Thursday.
Panthers defeat Saints VB
DUDLEY — Jy’Asha Cousins pounded out a season-high 17 kills during Southern Wayne’s 21-25, 23-25, 16-25 loss to Quad County 3A volleyball foe West Johnston on Tuesday.
Mylee Wiggs contributed eight kills, 14 digs and two aces. Alysa Craft recorded seven digs, while Jacey Hargrove supplied 10 digs.
Senior setter Taylor Lee logged 20 assists and five digs.
The Saints (3-12 overall, 1-8 QCC) begin a three-match road swing Thursday at QCC member Wilson Hunt.
