DUDLEY — Southern Wayne pitcher Reagan Stribble tossed her first career no-hitter during a 17-0, mercy-rule dismantling of Quad County 3A softball rival Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday evening.

Stribble struck out seven and issued one walk during her 42-pitch outing.

Officials halted the contest after 2 1/2 innings.

The Saints scratched out just three hits — one each by Mckenzie Strickland (two RBI), Jocelin Aguilar (two RBI) and Jocelyn Bond (two RBI).

However, the Spartans allowed 18 walks.

“Not many hitting opportunities,” SW head coach Andy Sullivan said.

Stribble, Strickland, Laura Summerlin and Gracie Hinson each had one stolen base.

The Saints (9-10 overall, 7-6 QCC) conclude regular-season play at home Thursday against Fike.
