GOLDSBORO — Joseph Strange shared second place individually and helped Southern Wayne finish third in the 2023 Wayne County Golf Championship Tuesday afternoon.
Strange and Charles B. Aycock’s Wyatt Aycock turned in identical 8-over-par 80 scores on the Goldsboro Country Club links.
The Saints posted a four-player total of 375 that included 18-hole efforts from Hunter Merritt (88), Riley Howard (102) and Isaac Worth (105). Jackson Faulk, Zyon Alston and Max King also competed.
C.B. Aycock edged Rosewood 349-355 for the team title. Wade Aycock contributed an 83. Talen Gardner (89) and Garrett West (97) rounded out the Golden Falcons’ team score.
Rosewood junior Aaron Ingram emerged as the medalist with a 1-under-par 72, one day after he posted a first-place finish in a Carolina 1A Conference meet played at Southern Wayne Country Club.
Andrew Hinnant carded a team-low 88 for Goldsboro, which took fourth at 389.
Southern Wayne and CBA return to action Apr. 18 for a Quad County 3A meet at Reedy Creek Country Club.
Rosewood returns to GCC on Apr. 17 for a Carolina 1A meet.
