SMITHFIELD — Cuyler Daly and Drew Sweet each logged three hits in the scorebook during Southern Wayne’s 13-0, mercy-rule romp over Quad County 3A baseball foe Smithfield-Selma on Friday evening.
Daly collected an RBI.
Jake Coates batted 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Winning pitcher Hayden Waller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. On the bump, the freshman southpaw scattered two hits, walked one and logged four strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Waller faced two batters over the minimum for a five-inning game.
The Saints backed up Waller with errorless defense. Tyler McKee recorded six putouts, while Sweet had two putouts and three assists. In all, nine SW players recorded either an assist or putout during the five-inning affair.
Smithfield-Selma (2-4 overall) has been outscored 55-1 in four QCC outings this season.
Southern Wayne (8-1, 3-1) continues play Tuesday at Wilson Fike.
