SMITHFIELD — Gracie Hinson swatted a home run and Morgan Brimberry enjoyed a career night at the plate during Southern Wayne’s 26-1, mercy-rule dismantling of Quad County 3A softball foe Smithfield-Selma on Friday evening.

Hinson went “yard” for the first time this season and fourth time overall in her career. The senior concluded the night 2-for-3 with five RBI.

Brimberry posted season and career bests for hits (five), RBI (six) and runs scored (four) in a single game. She leads the team with nine RBI.

In all, 10 Saints contributed offensively.

Jocelin Aguilar, Chloe Sullivan, Haley Wingate (RBI), Laura Summerlin and Kylie Barwick supplied one hit apiece.

Winning pitcher Reagan Stribble turned in a three-hit, three-RBI effort. Inside the circle, the freshman right-hander permitted the lone run on four hits and retired four SSS batters on strikeouts.

Alyssa Darden struck out the two batters she faced in relief of Stribble.

Southern Wayne (5-5 overall, 3-1 QCC) continues a three-game road swing Tuesday at Wilson Fike.
