CAMP LEJEUNE — North Duplin extended its modest win streak to two games with a 23-1, mercy-rule conquest of Lejeune on Wednesday afternoon.
Lilly Fulghum mashed a home run and emerged as the winning pitcher. The right-hander scattered two hits and retired five Devilpups on strikeouts.
Riley Hatch and Addy Higginbotham each contributed four hits.
Fulghum, Reece Outlaw and Iala Overton concluded the day with two hits apiece. Ady Spencer and senior catcher Kasey Jones each provided one hit.
Fulghum hurls no-hitter
TRENTON — Lilly Fulghum swatted a home run and threw a no-hitter inside the circle during North Duplin’s 18-1, mercy-rule triumph over Jones Senior on Tuesday evening.
Fulghum logged eight strikeouts and walked three Trojans. Offensively, she finished the day 2-for-2 with four RBI.
Overton smashed a home run during her 2-for-4, four-RBI outing.
Hatch batted 4-for-4 with two RBI. Higginbotham provided three hits and two RBI. Reece Outlaw went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Spence (RBI), M’chelle Jaco and Adaisha Bernal (RBI) collected one hit apiece.
Weather permitting, the Rebels (3-1 overall) entertain Waccamaw 1A-2A member Heide Trask today. First pitch is 6 p.m.
