GOLDSBORO — A roster stacked with underclassmen, North Duplin posted a second-place finish during a Carolina 1A Conference boys’ golf meet contested Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Gavin McClenny fired a 106 on the challenging and soggy Goldsboro Golf Course. Freshman Carson Barwick filed a 107, while sophomore Nathan Grantham turned in a 108.

Senior Billy McCoy carded a 109, which completed the Rebels’ four-player total of 440.

Sophomore Isaac Davis and junior Mason Blust also played.

“I have a great group of players who come to practice every day and work to get better,” ND head coach Kevin Anderson said. “We are young, but we are improving each day and each match.”

Rosewood won the team portion with a 358,

Eagles junior Aaron Ingram claimed medalist honors with a 6-over-par 78. Brandon Mason contributed an 81, followed by Ben Farfour (96) and Collin Beasley (103).

Hobbton took third with a 458.

Lakewood did not have enough players to record a team score.

The third Carolina 1A regular-season tournament is March 20 at Lakewood.
