DUDLEY — Southern Wayne administrators have reportedly dismissed Frank Coston as head varsity football coach.
The decision occurred last Tuesday.
Coston guided the Saints to a 3-7 record, including a season-ending victory over county rival Charles B. Aycock. The five-point triumph snapped a 41-game skid in conference play.
Since it was a personnel matter involving a current Wayne County employee, neither Coston nor SW athletics director David Lee were able to comment on the dismissal.
Coston was the eighth head coach in school history.
MountOliveTribune.com reached out to Ken Derksen, publicist for Wayne County Public Schools. He has not released an official statement, nor has WCPS posted the vacancy on the NC High School Athletic Association website.
A search for Coston’s successor will begin immediately.
