Obituary Submissions

The Mount Olive Tribune prints death notices for residents of Mount Olive, NC and the local surrounding communities for free. Individuals wishing to place a paid obituary notice in the Tribune must pre-pay. We accept Visa and Mastercard payments in person or over the phone, along with check and money order via mail or in person, and cash in person only. Generally, notices placed through a funeral home may be billed to that funeral home. Cost for each notice is calculated per column inch, plus a $25 charge for a black and white photo, or $35 for a color photo.

Our newspaper is printed weekly, and distributed every Monday. Due to printing deadlines, the absolute latest an obituary may be submitted for printing/paid (if applicable) is Sunday at noon, the day before publication.

To submit an obituary:
Email the notice to editor@mountolivetribune.com.
In the subject line of your email, indicate the type of obituary you are sending, and your loved one’s name. For example, “Free obituary for Joanna Burke” or “Paid obituary for Miles Lawson” (without the quotes).
Include your contact information – first and last name and a working phone number, at minimum.
Include the obituary in the body of the email, or as an attachment. Rich text (.rtf), Microsoft Word documents (.doc or .docx), and PDFs preferred.

If your email is received by the editor, you will receive a reply confirming receipt. If the notice is to be paid, the reply will include a quote for the cost of the notice.

If you would prefer to talk to someone about placing your notice, please call 919-658-9456 during regular business hours (Eastern time), Wednesday through Friday, or stop by the office at 214 NE Center St., Mount Olive. The editor is generally not available for phone calls, only via email.
