Virginia “Jenny” James Jeanes
Virginia “Jenny” James Jeanes, 82, passed away on January 3, 2023 at Duke Medical Center.
Jenny lived a joyful and meaningful life of service dedicated to her family and friends, her church, and to the greater community. She is remembered for the twinkle in her eye, her optimistic spirit, and her unconditional love and support for her family.
Jenny was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive where she held multiple lay leadership positions serving alongside her church family. Her personal ministry was selfless, filled with love and compassion and always generously helping others.
She is survived by her husband Opey D. Jeanes; her three sons and daughters-in-law Dale and Terry Jeanes, James and Sharon Jeanes, and Paul Jeanes and Laura Levitan; as well as her three grandchildren Kristen Jeanes, Emily Benton, and Owen Benton and his wife Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen W. James and Rosa C. James, and three older siblings.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 am on Saturday January 14, 2023 followed by a service of remembrance at 11 a.m., both held at First Baptist Church, Mount Olive. Interment will be held privately with immediate family at the Bailey Cemetery in Bailey, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Opey and Jenny Jeanes Family Endowed Scholarship Fund at Mount Olive College, PO Box 90, Mt. Olive, NC 28365.
