Harvey Jordan Dail, Jr., native of Mount Olive and resident of New Bern, passed away at the age of 84 in the evening, Saturday, April 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 9, 1938 in Wayne County to Harvey Jordan Dail and Elsie Lee Dail of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Clark Dail and his son Harvey Jordan Dail, III, who died in infancy.

Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Sandra Taylor Dail of New Bern; his daughter, Kimberly Dail Wynn and her husband, Steven Douglas Wynn of New Bern; his daughter, Lori Dail Olive of New Bern and his son, Taylor Jordan Dail of Cary; his grandchildren, Dallon Chandler Olive of New Bern and Brandi Lee Lawrence, her husband Thad Russell Lawrence III and his great grandchildren: Noah Russell Lawrence and Jordan Thad Lawrence of Surf City NC; his sister, Sarah Lee Varner and her husband Michael Varner of Hilton Head SC; sister in law, Lynn Dail of Mt Olive and her family.

Harvey worked in the Agricultural Chemical Industry for 40 years spanning over work in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. Harvey loved eastern North Carolina farming and had made many friends throughout the years. Harvey retired from Bayer Crop Science in 2004 and began to enjoy his passions of fishing, golfing and spending quality time with his family.

Harvey and Sandra resided in Mount Olive for many years before moving to New Bern, NC. They also enjoyed their mountain home and many friends in West Jefferson, NC.

The family will be having a graveside service at Martin-Price Cemetery (500 N.C. Highway 55 West, Mount Olive) on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1pm. Officiating will be Harvey’s close friend and former pastor, Reverend Dr Steven Fitzgerald. Visitation with the family will be after the service at the cemetery.
