MOREHEAD CITY — Shirley Lane Britt, 87, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

DUDLEY — Non-conference girls’ soccer rivals Southern Wayne and Spring Creek dueled to a 1-1 draw on the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex pitch Thursday evening.

Bryan receives top national Eagle Scout honor

Bill Bryan, executive chairman at Mt. Olive Pickle Co., has been presented the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award — the National Eagle Scout Association’s highest honor for Eagle Scouts.
