Every day that God saw and sees fit to open my eyes and yours, this is truly a good enough reason to give Him praise. The real question is, how personal is your praise? When gathered with family and friends, are you alone in it? According to the Bible, personal praise is a deeply individual responsibility. Even if you are the only one doing so among family and friends, worshipping God is ultimately about the worthiness of His approval rather than human approval. The thing that used to upset me with my family, would be that while and when at church, with uplifted hands, they’d praise God. At home, because I give God the glory, the honor, and the praise often, and with uplifted hands, I found that I was alone here in this space. I had to learn how to give them over to the Lord instead of passing judgment and allowing it to upset me that they weren’t praising God as I was. That they weren’t on one accord with me made me feel that the atmosphere in my household was being denied it’s spirituality of Christ Jesus.
Psalm 68:6 states (KJV), “God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” This scripture is telling us that God provides companionship for the lonely, brings freedom and joy to the oppressed, and offers a stark contrast between the fruitful lives of the obedient and the spiritual barrenness of the rebellious. Be careful not to fall into the trap of pleasing people. You are a new creature in Christ Jesus and the old has passed away. If you are sitting around those people who gossip and pass judgment, immediately separate yourself, if they still drink or do drugs, leave, anything that is not of God, is against God. It is better to keep company with those who are after God’s own heart as you are. It is better to keep company with those whose conversation is more about God and on the positive side than the negative. And when you go to praise God, it is better to keep company with those who are going to sincerely praise Him with you. Many people will praise Him with you, but not many will truly be sincere about it. Are you alone it? Ask yourself this next time you’re with family and friends giving God praise. See who’s praising God with you and who isn’t.
Praise is a powerful tool for growth and connection. It is a posture of the heart that acknowledges God’s wonderous works and character. When we praise God, it’s to align our hearts with his nature, recognize His goodness, and express gratitude for His blessings. You should praise God continually, both in times of hardship and seasons of joy. Praise is a lifestyle and a choice that the Bible always encourages. Get your household in alignment and on one accord with you when it comes to serving and praising God. It matters. Your family and friends should understand exactly how personal your praise is and glorify Him with you. You should never be alone in doing so. Psalm 100:4 (KJV) tells us, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” This scripture verse is instructing believers to approach God with an attitude of gratitude, recognizing his character and goodness.
