As I awoke this morning and started my morning routines, (shower, drying off, brushing my teeth, applying lotion, dressing, and combing my hair) to start my day, albeit, not as easy a task as it use to be because every movement is painful, due to starting my chemo treatments, but as I began to walk around my apartment, I contemplated on everything I have endured over the course of my life, good, bad, high, low, up, or down, and happy and sad, and even now with the latest news I had received back in February of 2026, I still heard yet a loving and gentle voice remind me that, “Daughter, your plight is only for just a season; troubles don’t last always,” God said.
When our hearts are touched in this way, and we hear from an awesome and amazing God who we have built such a close and fond relationship with, one wonders, “How do I receive this Lord,” or “When does it end?” I have had questions and doubts in my mind asking God why has my body been fraught with so much pain and illnesses since I was 28 years old and I am now 48, wondering when is it all going to exactly stop? Another gentle nudge to my heart, and God said, “It will stop when I have been made to show my Glory in and through you. It will stop when you’re telling your testimony and others will look on asking how you’re still standing?” Folks, I didn’t come here for a pity party this morning, I came just to say that yes, we can falter in our walk with Jesus, our faith, and especially when going through something such as cancer or knowing a loved one who is battling cancer, or anything life altering, threatening, or seriously detrimental to our health, we already feel defeated and as if the battle is over.
God said, “It is only for a season; troubles don’t last always.” Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 helps navigate cancer and chemo by assuring you that no suffering is wasted. God promises to weave even the darkest, most painful circumstances into His greater plan for your life, and mines. This perspective anchors hope, reminding us all that God is actively working behind the scenes to bring about ultimate good. So, no matter how low you’re feeling, the doubt you’re sensing, or even the confusion and uncertainties of not knowing what’s to come, TRUST GOD. ALWAYS. He will never lead us astray. Many trials and tribulations that we endure are just A TEST.
God loves us unconditionally and wants what’s best for us. Keep your head up. Don’t give up and don’t give in. Remember whose you are. 1 John 4:4 states (KJV): “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” Say this to yourself every day if you must. Or whatever scripture keeps you strong, focused, and inspired. Our afflictions are only for a season; troubles don’t last always. Until next time folks, stay safe, safe humbled, stay blessed!
