Two Mount Olive town employees are being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation for possible misconduct. Both employees were suspended without pay effective Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30.

The town announced the action Monday morning following an investigation initiated by the SBI. The town’s press release did not indicate whether the investigation had been requested by the town.

The names of the employees, and what the alleged misconduct is, were not released.

The Mount Olive Town Board was expected to discuss the issue during its Monday night meeting.

Monday’s agenda included the board authorizing Interim Town Manager Glenn Holland and Town Attorney Carroll Turner to seek a forensic auditor to assist in the investigation. The SBI recommended the action.
