KENLY — Spring Creek emerged victorious in four individual events and four relays during a Neuse Six 2A indoor track meet recently contested at North Johnston High School.

Maria Melchor topped the competition with a first-place time 49.72 seconds in the 300-meter dash. Teammates Anahi Solis (4:16) and Colette Crespo (18:40) claimed the 1,000- and 3,200-meter runs, respectively.

The Gator girls claimed top honors in the 4×4 and 4×8 relays.

Carter McClelland broke the tape first in the 1,000 with a time of 3:30. He emerged as the runner-up in both the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.

SC’s boys secured first in the 4×4 and 4×8 relays.

Second-place finishers were Angela Torres (55 hurdles), Maresa Diaz (long jump), Kandi Lopez (shot put), Adonis Hackett (500 dash) and Eric Mota-Salas (triple jump).

Mota-Salas took third in the 55 hurdles.

Other third-place efforts were recorded by Melchor (55 dash), Angela Torres (500), Angela Soto (1,000), Victoria Ponce (1,600 and 3,200), Courtney Eubanks (long jump), Shelby Jean Lane (shot put), William Lopez (3,200) and Garrett King (triple jump).

Spring Creek placed first in both the girls’ and boys’ team scoring with 135.5 and 130 points, respectively.

North Johnston, Beddingfield, Eastern Wayne, Goldsboro and Princeton also participated in the meet.

The next Neuse Six 2A meet is Wednesday at Eastern Wayne. Events begin at 4 p.m.
