SEVEN SPRINGS — Hunter Gunn pumped in a team- and game-high 19 points during Spring Creek’s 52-29 over North Duplin on the JV boys’ basketball scene Monday evening.

Jayden McLean collected 16 for the Gators, while Ranell Johnson tallied seven.

Teammates Payton Summerlin and Malachi Moore provided three points apiece. Trayshon Rivers and Tristan Pate each scratched for two points in the scorebooks.

Noah Bennett paced the Rebels with eight points, followed by DJ Stanford with six. Cole Grady scored five points.

Lucas Gregory, Chasen Scott, Chris Kornegay, Jackson Lee and Noa Quintanilla each supplied one basket.

SC led 14-6 after one quarter and 27-14 at the break.

The Gators return home Monday for a non-conference outing against Southeastern Athletic 2A member Midway. Tip-off is 4:30 p.m. in “The Swamp.”

North Duplin entertains county rival East Duplin today. Game time is 4:30 p.m. inside Kaleel Gymnasium in Calypso.

Saints compete

WILSON — Three Southern Wayne athletes logged first-place individual finishes during a Quad County 3A indoor track meet contested at Hunt High School.

Angel Harmon emerged victorious in the girls’ 300-meter dash in 45.6 seconds. Manesse Remedor claimed the boys’ 300 dash in 39.7 seconds, while distance specialist Gage Brewer won the 1,000-meter run in 3:03.

Brewer finished runner-up in the 1,600 with a time of 5:23.

Harmon claimed third in the 55-meter hurdles (10.9), while Ishmael Sean Moore crossed the line third (6.7) during the 55-meter dash.

The Saints secured second in both the girls’ and boys’ 4×2 relays.
