GOLDSBORO — Rosewood handed North Duplin a 1-0 during their Carolina 1A Conference boys’ soccer match contested Monday evening at Branch Pope Field.
Senior Ian Smith provided the game-winning goal in the second half. Junior Sergio Aburto supplied the assist.
The Eagles avenged an earlier loss to the Rebels.
North Duplin (1-7-1 overall, 1-7-1 Carolina) entertains reigning eastern champion Hobbton on Wednesday. Rosewood (4-9-1, 3-5-1) plays host to Lakewood the same evening.
Kickoff is 6 p.m. for both games.
Kenan receives forfeit
KINSTON — James Kenan received a forfeit against East Central 2A boys’ soccer foe Kinston on Monday evening.
The Vikings did not have enough players to field a team.
The Tigers (11-4-0 overall, 7-2-0 ECC) return home Wednesday for a conference outing against North Lenoir. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Bill Taylor Field in Warsaw.
