DEEP RUN — James Kenan stepped back into the win column Wednesday evening with a 9-0 thrashing of East Central 2A soccer foe South Lenoir.
Peter Omega provided a season-high five goals for the Tigers, who halted a two-game skid. Yordan Santivanez, Kevin Jeminez, Francisco Roldan and Devis Gomez supplied one goal apiece.
“Started slow, but began playing well after about five to six minutes into the match,” Kenan head coach Mitchell Quinn said. “[We] started moving the ball well, including several players in the attacks.”
Kenan recorded its eighth shutout of the season.
The Tigers (10-4-0 overall, 6-2-0 ECC) conclude a three-game road swing next Monday at Kinston. South Lenoir dropped to 9-8-1 overall and 1-7-0 against league opposition this season.
SW soccer falls at Hunt
WILSON — Dominick and Anthony Hamilton tallied one goal apiece during Wilson Hunt’s 2-1 conquest of Southern Wayne on the Quad County 3A boys’ soccer scene Wednesday evening.
Jesus Castillo scored for the Saints, who are 0-4-1 in their last five outings on the pitch.
Hunt goalie Connor McIntosh recorded four saves.
Southern Wayne (4-10-1 overall, 2-4-1 QCC) is the guest of East Wake today.
